Nurcan Yalman

Nurcan Yalman

Nurcan Yalman, an experienced archaeologist, is affiliated with the Department of History at Istanbul Nişantaşı University. She obtained her PhD from the University of Istanbul in 2005. She held the position of Executive Board Member at the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA)from 2013 to 2016. Currently, she remains a member of the committee for the European Archaeological Heritage Prize and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Cultural Awareness Foundation in Istanbul. She has been an advisor for CIE (Center for International Heritage Activities) for several years and has played a prominent role in various field schools and identification missions, including those in Galle (Sri Lanka), Zanzibar (Tanzania), and Umm Al Quwain (UAE) in relation to NYUAD. She has also directed a pilot project in Istanbul that focuses on documenting stories within the Grand Bazaar (Stories & Bazaars). She also supervised an exhibition called “Çatalhöyük: From Earth to Eternity” in 2006. Some notable archaeological excavations she has participated in include the Çayönü and Çatalhöyük Excavation and Research Projects in Turkey, as well as the Dalma and Marrawah Excavation Projects in the Gulf region.
